Kerry Washington has been serving up major curl envy as of late with her natural hair game and her latest cover for Allure is no exception. The actress takes a starring role in the glossy’s November 2017 cover spread sporting an assortment of looks, including tousled textures, loose cornrows and windblown tendrils.
The looks were crafted by her go-to celeb hairstylist Takisha Sturdivant-Drew who is behind some of the actress’ most iconic hair moments, while makeup artist Francelle Daly gave her a dewy nude beat.
On her push to wear more natural hair styles:
“I like to wear my natural texture, especially now because I have children and I want them to know that their hair is perfect as it is. They don’t have to change it or straighten it. They can, but they don’t have to.”
Why the quest for beauty perfection is futile:
“There’s someone who follows me around all day long [on the set],” she says. “Like, literally follows me to make sure there’s not a single hair out of place. This is somebody’s full-time job. Then someone follows me around to add powder so that I never look shinier than I’m supposed to.”
