Solange Knowles is known for her fresh-faced slay. The edgy beauty consistently goes the minimal route while letting her natural beauty and killer fashion aesthetic speak for themselves. So, we weren’t surprised when she hit the stage at the 2017 BET Awards Sunday (June 25) to accept her BET Centric Award for Cranes in the Sky in glowing form.

But, even no-makeup looks still require a bit of expertise. So, we caught up with her makeup artist Dana Delaney to get the inside scoop on how she created the dewy beat using products from staple drugstore brand Black Opal.

To keep her face beat fresh and dewy without the shine, Dana prepped Solange’s T-zone with Black Opal Invisible Oil Blocking Gel Primer ($9.95) and then buffed the brand’s Even True Flawless liquid foundation ($11.95) into her skin “for a flawless, velvety sleek finish.”She followed up with undereye concealer ($8.95) to brighten under Solange’s eyes and center of her face.

Dana then accentuated the beauty’s cheekbones with a deep contour using True Color stick foundation ($9.95), dabbing a bit of Perfecting Primer ($14.95) onto her cheekbones for a dewy finish. To keep the shine under control, she dusted oil-blocking loose powder ($9.99) on her T-Zone for lasting finish.

To give Solange a “fresh, modern look”, she used Splurge Eye Satin Matte ($6.95) shadow duo in Crème Brûlée. “I used the lighter shade as a base to buff the eyelid and blended the darker shade into the crease for a sculpted finish.”

For added definition, she smudged out Black Opal Color Splurge Precision Eye Definer into the base of her lashes. She then filled in Solange’s striking brushed brows with Black Opal Color Splurge Brow Shaper Kit.

Finally, she paired Black Opal Waterproof Gel Lip Liner with a lip balm to give Solange that barely there glossy finish.
