Before heading to Rio last year, Olympic star Gabby Douglas was gifted with her very own one-of-a-kind Barbie doll. As of this Monday, you can now get your very own version celebrating the young athlete.
The Gabby Douglas Barbie ($24.95) doll was released this week as part of Barbie’s “Shero” collection honoring women who breaking boundaries and inspiring young girls. Gabby made history in 2012 as the first woman of color to win in an individual all-around competition for gymnastics.
The medal winner worked closely with Mattel to ensure the doll mirrored her own likeness — including her hair texture and flexibility. “It looks exactly like me,” Gabby told USA Today. “It was a really fun process.”
The fully posable doll also comes dressed in Gabby’s signature stars-and-stripes leotard with a pink and black Nike warm-up suit.
Gabby is also pushing boundaries beyond the Olympics. She launched her own line of liquid lippies with Beauty Bakerie in March and is currently looking to get into acting, already earning a guest spot on Nickelodeon’s Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn.
We can’t wait to see what she comes out with next.
