HH: Do you have any favorite hairstyles?
NW: I love a good press and curl! And buns are always fun and flirty.

HH: How do you feel about wigs and extensions?
NW: OMG—I tried my first wig a few months ago, and I loved it! It’s so easy, and it helps me protect my hair while I work out and while I’m working on set. And I loooove clip-ins, they’re super convenient. I’ve been trying to keep [heat away from] my hair, and wigs and clip-ins help with that.

HH: Name five of your must-have hair products.
NW: The Shear Genius Collection. I love the edge control and the Satin Shield Serum. I love Miss Jessie’s Curly Pudding when I’m wearing my natural hair. And I can’t live without my Chi flat irons and a satin scarf.

HH: What are your must-have beauty products?
NW: Mac Lipglass, Maybelline mascara, Palmers cocoa butter stick and Cetaphil face wash and moisturizer.

Hype Hair: What’s your best advice about taking care of your hair?
Nafessa Williams: Find a good stylist who’s into hair health and stick with him or her. I’ve had the same hairstylist, Annagjid “Kee” Taylor, since I was 16 years old. Too many hands in your hair can cause problems.

HH: What must-haves items do you carry in your bag?
NW: Lip gloss, my cell phone, superglue—in case a nail breaks—and gum. I love chewing gum.

HH: What beauty brands are you loving right now?
NW: Shear Genius Collection, of course… e.l.f. products are pretty good and really affordable; I also love Maybelline—I’m actually using one of the foundations right now, and I love it.

HH: How do you stay motivated and encouraged?
NW: Growing up the oldest of four has always been my motivation. I’m responsible for leading
the way and setting the example. Also my relationship with God keeps me motivated. Knowing that everything has already been written keeps me encouraged.

HH: Is there anything else you would like to share with our readers?
NW: Yes. I’m a huge advocate for following your dreams and living in your purpose. So I would like to tell your readers to “follow your dreams fearlessly and encourage others to follow theirs.” I believe that’s when life truly begins.
