Fellow actress and icon Meryl Streep penned a write-up on Olivia’s epic rise and journey towards greatness.
“Viola has carved a place for herself on the Mount Rushmore of the 21st century—new faces emerging from a neglected mountain,” said Meryl. “Her gifts as an artist are unassailable, undeniable, deep and rich and true. But her importance in the culture—her ability to identify it, her willingness to speak about it and take on responsibility for it—is what marks her for greatness.”
Davis also shared an in-depth look of herself and what it means to be an actress with power of sharing unheard stories.
“‘Rebel’ is not a word I would describe for myself but I feel like I was a total rebel being an actor,” she says. “It made me feel like there was something in me, a passion, a love—and that I didn’t just squelch it.”
