Solange is serving up serious face in her new cover spread for Interview. The Don’t Touch My Hair singer who has become one of our unofficial ambassadors for #blackgirlmagic and natural hair captivates with textured tresses and flawless face. Inside, she serves up family goals in a sit down with big sis Beyoncé for the magazine and it’s everything that we would ever imagine it to be.
More conversation, than interview, the two talk about everything, from Solange’s history-making album Seat At The Table and why she thinks Master P reminds them of their dad to her musical inspirations and the importance of owning her art.
On her epic album cover:
I wanted to nod to the MonaLisa and the stateliness, the sternness that that image has. And I wanted to put these waves in my hair, and to really set the waves, you have to put these clips in. And when Neal, the hair stylist, put the clips in, I remember thinking, “Woah, this is the transition, in the same way that I’m speaking about on ‘Cranes.'” It was really important to capture that transition, to show the vulnerability and the imperfection of the transition—those clips signify just that, you know? Holding it down until you can get to the other side. I wanted to capture that.
