From daring to classic, last night’s Golden Globes red carpet showcased all sorts of major beauty moments. One of our fave moments came from Kerry Washington who brought the drama in a golden rose lace dress by Dolce & Gabbana with sleek tresses and a deep plum lip.
While Kerry has been rocking a slew of edgy updos and textures, her longtime stylist Takisha Sturdivant-Drew switched up her look to keep the glam flowing.
“The dress was very traditional and had an elaborate design that called for a very simplistic, sleek, smoothed out hairstyle with color and very slight body in the hair,” Takisha told us. She also shared how to recreate the look at home with a few basic tools.
Takisha prepped Kerry using Neutrogena’s Anti Residue Shampoo and Triple Repair Deep Recovery Hair Mask. She said the conditioner gives Kerry’s hair “a really nice shine, as well as softened her hair strands.” She used a GHD size 3 Ceramic Vented Radial Brush to blow out Kerry’s natural hair and then straightened it with a GHD Platinum Flat Iron. “I love this flat iron because of its even heat,” said Takisha, noting that only one pass across the hair is needed to smooth it out.
The sylist completed the look by adding a deep side part and adding custom brown and blonde clip-in extensions from her TSD Hair line in the middle and along the perimeter to add length and fullness.
Makeup artist Carola Gonzalez took to Instagram to reveal her tools for creating Kerry’s flawless face beat, including Velour lashes for dramatic eyes and and a velvety wine lip from Neutrogena’s Hydro Boost cosmetic line.
