WEtv Star Mushiya’s New Kinky-Curly Haired Doll Is Sure To Inspire Brown Girls Everywhere

My Natural Doll x KelesheFrom Barbie‘s real-women inspired dolls to natural-haired offerings like Angelica, we continue to see how important it is for young girls (and adults) to see themselves in their toys. There truly is something magical about seeing our various skin tones and hair types celebrated and presented as aspirational.

That is why we are so here for WEtv’s Cutting It In The ATL star and hairstylist Mushiya Tshikuka‘s newest venture which has hit the scene just in time for the holidays. Mushiya introduced us to My Natural Doll, a natural-haired doll collection that she created to help young brown girls embrace their beauty and their kinky-curly tresses.

Keleshe, the first doll from the line, boasts chocolate brown skin and features a head full of 100% virgin Ethiopian-textured hair straight from Mushiya’s Runway Curls Classic collection. The 18″ doll comes dressed in a cute African-print babydoll dress she co-designed and golden flats.

The doll, she said, was inspired by her daughters Kasai Tshikuka-Smith (above left), Keleshe Tshikuka-Smith (above, right).

“Black girls will be able to look at this doll and see her rich beautiful dark skin and kinky hair that is identical to the hair that grows from their own heads,” said Mushiya. “Your young girls will look at this doll, looking back at them, and know that they are beautiful.”

Keleshe is available online now at runwaycurls.com for $165. Will you be adding her to your holiday wish list?
