Justine Skye and her gorgeous purple tresses seem to always be on point. Whether she’s rocking her natural curls or a sleek updo or even retro finger waves, her hair is alway styled to perfection. Her appearance at the 13th Annual CFDA/Vogue Fashion Awards this past Monday was no exception.

The singer served old Hollywood glam with brushed out curls styled by Dark and Lovely Style Squad member and celebrity hairstylist, Derick Monroe. While we can’t always have his magic hands on deck to get us red carpet ready, Derick did share with us how to create Justine’s fab look with a one-inch curling iron, brush and edge tamer.

Get The Look

Starting on freshly washed and conditioned hair, Derick dried Justine’s hair with a blow dryer and a paddle brush to create body to the hair. Next, he  created a deep side part and then sectioned the hair in small parts to create small curls at the ends of the hair. He left the roots straight, while curling the hair away from her face.

As the curls set, he used Dark and Lovely Length Retention Tame and Strengthen Edge Tamer to smooth out and keep Justine’s hair in place. Derick then brushed out the curls with a Mason Peason brush to add volume and waves and pinned some hair behind the ears in place.

He then finished with Dark and Lovely Au Naturale Anti-Shrinkage Sheen Sealing Nectar to add shine.
