Hair extensions brand Mayvenn recently schooled some of their team on the art of styling Black women’s hair in a recent video and the results are hilarious. Four men are brought together in “Men Style Black Women’s Hair For The First Time” to demonstrate their skills – and learn to appreciate what goes into styling textured tresses.
The six-minute video introduces us to the guys (who, of course, think they have magic hands). They spin a wheel to choose the hairstyle and watch a how-to tutorial – one time – on how to execute. Ha! One guy, a software developer gets tasked with cornrows. “Is that anything like braiding?”, he asked. Face palm.
Other hair assignments include laying edges, fitting a wig, and Princess Leia-esque space buns.
This, of course, is when hilarity ensues as all of the guys fumble through their assignments and, in the end, learn that what is second nature to us, isn’t as easy as it looks. Those spaces buns aren’t half bad, though.
