Hype Hair: What are your favorite hairstyles?
Desiree Ross: I like having a messy bun because it keeps hair out of my face, plus it looks cute and chill for a regular day out. Or I leave it down and kinda toss it around to whatever side I want. For more formal events, I might get it blown out with some curls to make it look big and effortless like I stepped out of a Pantene ad. I like for my hair to look easy. I also love box braids with a middle part and one French braid on either side of my head. I eventually want to dye my hair and make it lighter for a more beachy, sun-kissed look.

HH: What are your makeup essentials?
DR: I have lots of makeup essentials. I practically live at Ulta. Becca Champagne Pop Pressed Highlighter, NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer, NARS Orgasm Blush, Laura Mercier BB Cream, Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz and Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara. If I have those I have down my basics for a regular day out—I don’t care what type of look. But to add a little more, I would add in the Full Exposure Eye Pallet by Smashbox and the Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Liner and some lipstick by MAC.

HH: What are your fave things to pack in your purse?

DR: I’ve got to have my Chapstick. I use Lucas Papaw Ointment because my makeup artists recommended it. I also always keep pressed powder or oil absorbers so my skin doesn’t look shiny, lotion for my hands, and a pair of sunglasses.

HH: How do you keep such a beautiful complexion?

DR: Luckily, I inherited my father’s skin, which doesn’t blemish too bad. But I drink a lot of water, use Kiehl’s face products, and always remember to take off my makeup when I get home and know I’m not going out again. I find that using a microdermabrasion brush and taking vitamins for my skin, like vitamin E, also help.
