Art Up Your Hair With This Colorful Trend

The magical transforming powers of coloring have made it the go-to trend for any hairstyle this season. From rainbow-colored and pixel-inspired art to ombre and balayage, the techniques are as endless as stylists’ imaginations. Heck, glow-in-the-dark tresses were just trending a few months ago.

Now, the latest hair trend to resurface is hair stenciling – and we’re here for it! The process is simple, temporary and all about your creativity.

“There is no right or wrong, there’s only expression,” said Salon Aguayo hairstylist Janine Ker in an interview with BuzzFeed.

And, though it would be nice, you don’t have to go to a salon to safely art up your hair. All you need to get going is a temporary hair color spray and your desired designs (Michael’s anyone?) Ker’s top color picks are Joico’s Instatint! and temporary hair color sprays from Party City.

Cheap and DIY? Yaaasss!

Ker also shared some quick tips for ensuring color slay, including making sure your hairstyle is secure before spraying.  “I suggest a simple updo (top knot, ponytail, twin buns) to start, because it automatically gives you a still surface to spray on,” she said. And, use a shield when doubling up on colors to over bleeding.

And, we absolutely love that you can wash it out at the end of the day and start all over again.Because who wants to make any commitments this summer.
