The natural hair movement is booming and women everywhere are big-chopping, protective styling and hair blogging. While embracing our God-given kinks, coils and curls starts off as empowering, we soon discover the struggle is real to find a licensed professional who can actually care for our tresses. Far too many of us are being overcharged, underserved or downright disrespected.
But, thankfully, there’s a new app for our natural hair stylist woes. The new Bantu App can help connect naturalistas with stylists in their area who specialize in all of our textured glory. Just pick your city and filter by style and price and you can book an appointment right from your phone. It’s also a bonus for stylists looking for hair to slay.
“Too many women with kinks, coils, and curls really struggle to find hairstylists who meet their needs,” said app co-founder Meron Behre. “Bantu solves this problem by seamlessly connecting these ladies with the hard-to-find network of stylists.”
Bantu is based in both the UK and the US. It’s still fairly new, so the salon listings aren’t as robust as I’d like in New York. But, expect it to grow exponentially as their reach grows.
You can download the app now for free on iPhone and iPad –an Android version is currently in the works.
