Dyson turned the beauty industry upside down earlier this week after unveiling its Supersonic luxury hairdryer in Tokyo. Better known for its vacuums and hand dryers, the company announced the arrival of an updated hair dryer — something that hasn’t been done since the ’60s. The high-tech beauty tool boasts such features as near silent operation, intelligent heat control and, of course, a redesigned motor.

With more than $70M poured into four years of research to reduce typical blow dryer noise and the sleek magnetic attachments, we’re slightly convinced that this just might give us the ultimate hair drying experience. It’s sexy, it’s super high tech and, it’s a Dyson.

But, this fancy piece of hardware will also put a serious dent in your pocketbooks. Priced at a whopping $399.99, it even costs more than some of the company’s vacuum cleaners. Plus, most high-end dryers weigh in at a third of the price.

The Supersonic dryer is set to go on sale in the UK in June. It will hit US stores in August via Dyson.com and Sephora.com.

Yes, it looks amazing, but would you shell out $400 for a hair dryer? Sound off below.
