And the process is pretty easy. With a microblading pen, the specialist draws individual strokes one by one, using the customers preferred shape and color to create a natural, hair-like look. Very meticulous, the entire tattoo-like process takes an upwards of two hours to complete. As far as the pain goes, a topical numbing cream and a liquid anesthetic is applied to minimize discomfort. The downtime for healing varies, but usually takes about a month. Afanaseva recommends a 40-minute touch-up to most customers to make sure they’ve achieved the perfect brow that will have ultimate longevity.
