Award-winning actress Angela Robinson stars as the sophisticated villainess Veronica Harrington on Tyler Perry’s The Haves and the Have Nots. The veteran actress took home the Gracie Award for Outstanding Female Actor-One to Watch last year and is quickly becoming a household name for her portrayal of the cunning attorney.

“There are very few characters like Veronica: truth tellers, smart, educated, a little bit cray-cray and also she has an ability as a woman of a certain age to still be sensual,” Robinson recently told Karu F. Daniels, ABC Radio Networks contributing producer. “All of that usually doesn’t come in one package in television or in film today.”

We caught up with the actress to talk about her hair and beauty secrets. Read on to find out more about her must-haves, her wig game and what inspires her most. Be sure to catch her on the season finale of The Haves And The Have Nots which airs tonight at 9pm EST on the OWN Network.

Hype Hair: Tell us about your hair care regimen?
Angela Robinson: The maintenance of my hair changes based on how I’m wearing it. I change hairstyles a lot. My hair is natural. I usually wear braids, weaves or wigs. I wash and condition my hair every two weeks when weaved, once a week when wearing it natural.

HH: Do you have any favorite hairstyles?
AR: I enjoy experimenting. I don’t keep any one hairstyle very long. I always love a good bob though.

HH: How do you feel about wigs, weaves and extension pieces?
AR: I wear them all. I started to lose my hair years ago because of a thyroid disease. Wigs and weaves helped me to continue to audition and work without worry. I let my perm grow out and started to really care for my hair while enjoying the versatility of weaves and wigs. I didn’t have a lot of money and YouTube wasn’t what it is now. But, somehow, I managed to teach myself to braid, weave and care for wigs.

HH: What’s the best advice you can share on hair?
AR: Buy it, rent it, borrow it, but don’t forget to take care of your hair, too. We are living in a time where we can enjoy all sorts of looks. It’s easy to braid your hair down and forget about it. Your hair should still get the same love and care, whether it’s covered or not.

HH: Who does your hair?
AR: Alkhyseam Watson does my hair in Atlanta for The Haves and the Have Nots. I don’t have a regular hairstylist outside of work. I would love to find someone in the NY area, but I must confess I don’t enjoy sitting in salons that much so Al tells me how to care for my hair and I do it myself. I have different stylists for appearances but Al is my main stylist.
