Oscar-winning It-Girl Lupita Nyong’o elegantly graces the October issue of Vogue making this her second “fashion bible” cover spread. Nyong’o has been at the top of the movie and fashion industry this year being starring in the upcoming films Star Wars: The Force Awakens, The Jungle Book and The Queen of Katwe and owning every red carpet she steps foot, well, stiletto on.
For this spread, the Lancôme spokeswoman talks about the obstacles she faced due to her skin tone, how Yale helped shape her career and her early love for fashion. She told Vogue:
Salons were a big feature in my life. We would go every two weeks to get our hair braided, washed, or treated. That’s where I read American, British, and a few African magazines. Then I would design my own clothes. In Kenya it’s much cheaper to get clothes made than to buy them.
On the cover, Nyong’o donned a gold Valentine haute couture dress with red laser cut-outs. Her TWA was styled blown out and her dark cranberry lipstick is definitely a must have this Fall.
During a game of 73 questions Nyong’o answered, she’d love to have her favorite beverage, pineapple juice, with Misty Copeland, So Special by Mavado pumps her up at the gym and one comedy she would’ve loved to star in is the Nutty Professor, making her the dream BFF.
