REVIEW: Private Stock Hair’s Kinky, Curly ‘Luxe Kink 2’

Private Stock HairAfter one year and some change into my natural hair journey, I was tired of flat ironing my kinky curly leave out to blend into my silky Indian bundles. And let’s face it, in the dead of summer, my hair wasn’t going for it at all. I could flat iron my hair and within the 10 minutes it takes to walk from my apartment to the train station, it would look as if I hadn’t put any effort into doing my hair whatsoever.

The Search

After a short stint of wearing faux locs, which I definitely loved, I decided I wanted to try a natural weave for my next look. Still fairly new to the hair market when it came to weaves, many companies simply just weren’t selling textures that mimicked African-American hair. Everything was smooth and silky — not my kinky curly curl pattern. So, I made social media my best friend and searched every corner of the Internet for hair companies that sold weave made for natural gals. I ended up dwindling my choices down to three mainstays that seemed to have pretty good feedback from customers. After pricing out my options, my trio of choices became one.

The Hair

I ended up going with Private Stock Hair, a hair company that caters to #teamnatural with seven different 100% virgin and 100% human hair texture options for those with kinky, coily and curly hair( they also have straight and wavy styles, too). Sticking with my decision to go with a full yet natural looking weave that mimicked my kinky curly texture I chose their “Luxe Kink 2” style, which is described as a 4ab texture.

After purchasing three bundles (I ended up only using two) of 16-inch curls, I received my package within three days. Upon opening the package, the hair seemed shinier than I expected. To cut down on the work and save a few dollars, I dyed the hair, which was a natural brown color, to jet black. Then, I had my hairstylist sew in the extensions, leaving just a bit of my edges out to create a naturally blended look.
