We are swooning over W Magazine’s epic all-Black model spread inside its August issue. In 2015, this really shouldn’t be a big deal, but it is. One, it’s still a rare treat to see Black beauty celebrated in mainstream publications (outside of the ever-controversial appropriation). Two, the six featured models — Ajak Deng, Amilna Estevao, Anais Mali, Aya Jones, Binx Walton and Tami Williams — are werking for their lives in this 16-page spread shot by photographer Emma Summerton.
The 70’s-esque spread features a mix of richly textured and deeply saturated fabrics, from lace and tweed to brocade and fur, that make you wish you could reach through the screen to glide your fingers across. Top it off with kinky, coily and curly natural hair styled by Jimmy Paul for Bumble and bumble and makeup by Dick Page for Shiseido at Jed Root and you’ve got an awesome collection of fall looks that might have you thinking it is possible to mix and wear every bit of fabric you have in your closet. (Note to self: it’s not).

Thankfully, W reminds us of Coco Chanel’s advice to take one thing off (or more) before stepping outside of your house.
