Hype Sound: Jill Scott Is All “Woman” For Fifth Studio Album

Jill Scott Album

After a four-year hiatus, the wait is finally over, neo soul artist Jill Scott is releasing her fifth studio album “Woman” this Friday, July 24. We first fell in love with Scott’s smooth vocals in 2000 when she co-wrote and sang “You Got Me” live alongside The Roots. Now, with her debut album, “Who is Jill Scott?” celebrating its 15th anniversary, the Grammy winner has embarked on a summer tour hitting the stage in 25 major cities, including Brooklyn, Atlanta and Los Angeles, now through August 28.

Scott, now signed to Atlantic records, describes her new album as “classic Philly soul meets country rhythm served with captivating storytelling.” We know from her greatest hits that she draws inspiration from her personal life and produces lyrics that hook the listener. Now holding the number three spot on Billboard’s Adult R&B Songs chart, her hit single “Fools Gold” earned Scott her 13th top ten song in that category.

When listening to her new album, ‘Jilly from Philly’ urges her fans to fully connect with it:

Listen, not skim through. Turn everything off. Put the phone somewhere else.  Music is an incredible way to tell stories and create. If you can find a moment when you’re in the tub or in the car, really ponder, listen, feel.

Even if you can’t see her live, don’t fret! Yahoo Live is streaming her concert this Thursday, July 23, 9pm EST. Tune in HERE to watch.  But first, flip the page to check out the Grammy Award-winner’s hit single “Fools Gold” and her newest single “Closure”.
