I had reached my breaking point, literally.
My transitioning tresses were weak and I couldn’t stand to detangle my super thick mane anymore. My line of demarcation had made itself known so I came to the conclusion that a protective style was the best way to go until I was ready to chop off my dead, chemically-treated ends. But, I didn’t want your usual box braids – been there done that this past summer.
After seeing Ciara, Zendaya, and Teyana Taylor rocking faux locs I decided this would be a cool style to try, after all it’s just hair and if I didn’t like it I could try something else.
I contacted a tried-and-true hairstylist in my area who is great with faux locs, and eight hours and 13 packs of Marley hair later, I had gorgeous, back-grazing locs. I have had now had my faux locs in for nearly two and a half weeks and absolutely love them! Everywhere, I go I get compliments on my hair, and even have fooled a few who thought it was my real hair.
Overall, I am very happy with this protective style. Doing my hair in the morning is a breeze, and the best part is that I am able to keep my natural hair concealed. I plan on getting my hair re-twisted in about three weeks and will continue to wear them throughout the summer until my relaxer fully grows out.
