Last week, Tracee Ellis Ross stopped by Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club during her Black-ish promo run to discuss the show but also drop some knowledge on the standards of beauty. “Women have been manipulating their hair, their asses, their breasts, their lips, and all of this for some standard of beauty that is not natural, and as if we’re these airbrushed creatures that are just an object for desire,” she told the radio hosts. “Women are way fuller creatures and beings than that, our sexuality is something that we should own and hold and share as we choose, when we choose, not because it’s the way to get love and be loved…and that is a part of that.”
The natural haired actress has also been vocal about her curly mane being front and center on television once again.
“I realized that wow, black woman on TV playing a wife and I have my milkmaid braid,” she said. “I’ve not seen that on network television. Most black women on TV, their hair is pressed within an inch of its life or they’re wearing a weave.”
