I noticed that when I used the Denman Brush, I had excessive shedding. Lot’s. Ridiculous amounts. My hair was rather manageable but, I just could’t get past how much hair I had to throw in the trash due to all of this shedding.
After a few washes, I decided to switch things up.
I purchased a wide tooth comb. I also watched a Youtube tutorial of another fellow natural who encouraged other naturals to only detangle their hair while it’s saturated with conditioner and under running water.
This was it! This method totally worked for me. Not only did I experience less shedding but, my wash day had now dwindled down to a few hours. I can now wash my hair, detangle, moisturize and style in half of the time it took me before.
I am not saying that the Denman Brush is bad, or that it doesn’t work but, what I am saying is that it wasn’t the best option for me and my 4b/4c hair texture. I don’t have a curl pattern to enhance or train and my hair sheds less when I detangle under warm water while it has a conditioner in it.
If you have had woes with your detangling process, fret not! Don’t give up and go to tex-laxing, relaxing and texturizing your hair. You may just need to try a few more combinations to find what works the absolute best for you.
