Naomi Campbell took on a retro look when she wore an afro wig on The View yesterday (Mar. 3). The supermodel sat down with the talk show hosts to discuss the new season of Oxygen’s The Face, diversity in modeling and Lupita Nyong’o’s Oscar-winning moment.
“She was riveting, eloquent, elegant,” she said of Nyong’o, who won Best Supporting Actress. “I mean, for every young woman, nevertheless every young woman of color, it was just such hope. It was absolutely her night.”
Campbell went on to discuss her role on the second season of The Face and what she looks for in a good model. “To have the whole package, you have to be 5’8. I’ve never been into skinny… For me, you have to look healthy period. I want healthy-looking girls.”
So what does Naomi think of fashion incorporating more models of color? “I don’t want it to be a trend but a balance.”
